The Peuras seem to be an elusive lot! I can't find anything on them!
My grandfather was William (one of 9 children) who at one time were in Houghton county at Calumet and/or Laurium. His father is supposed to be John (married two different Marys, one of which may have been Mary Dimmo).
John's father may or may not have been Olaf Püra, born in Finland; I found a watch in my great-uncle's possession (he was a watch-maker) that was inscribed "Olaf Püra, Laurium, Michigan." I have found this Olaf Püra on a 1900 census, but I don't think it's him -- even though he, too, was a watch-maker -- as he only had a daughter Lyyta, 6 yrs old.
Unfortunately, I've been searching for 20+ years, and all I get is dead ends. I'm just posting this out of frustration; by now I'm pessimistic that the Peuras will ever be found, but I won't give up. Maybe someone went to Marquette County or to another state.
