James A Pew did marry Martha Ruddy and they had 10 children:
Cletus Henry
Calistus
Martha Mahalia
Julia (My ggrandmother)
Anna
James
Anna Verda
Mary Angela
Joseph
Albert Henry

Julia married married John Carr and lived in Milbank, SD where they had 6 children:
Elmer, Elinor, Frank Bernard(my grandfather), Floyd, Matilda, and Ethel.

Frank Carr Married Laura Kohl of Appleton, Wisconsin and lived in Milbank and had 4 children: Leon, Aurita was a twin but her sister died in childhood and Kenneth (my father).

History as I know it was that after living in New York state several years, the family moved to Green Bay Wisconsin. One of the sons, Patrick Henry, left New York with 31 cents in his pocket and came West in 1849. From Green Bay the family moved to Wausau, Wisc., back to Green Bay and then to Stephensville, Wisc.

They owned sawmills in each place.

George married Nancy Ruddy and settled in Big Stone City, SD and raised a family of 7 boys.

Calistus was born June 6, 1860 at Stephensville, Wisconsin to James and Martha.

In 1881, at the age of 21, Calistus and John Carr(later to be his brother-in-law) migrated to Dakota Territory expecting to file a claim. Carr filed in Melrose township of Grant County(where I grew up and is currently owned by my father Kenneth Carr) but Calistus bought land in Geneseo township in Roberts County from a Wisconsin Man. There is so much more if you are interested. Please E-mail me at barb-vanderwyst@mediaone.net
I'm trying to find out more about the Carr side and am looking for John Carr parents.
