I am trying to make a connection between the Pew/Pugh families of either Smith or DeKalb Co TN about 1820 - 1850 and the Helmanteller families of these counties. My gg grandmother was Peggy Hemontoler (Margaret Helmanteller on marriage record) who married Charlie Haynes in 1850. Her mother was a Pew who came to TN from either Missouri or Kansas. Have you found any Pew/Helmanteller connections in your research? I've hit a brick wall since all I have to go on is one elderly cousin who had that as a note in her genealogy records. I would appreciate any help you might give and would gladly reciprocate with anything I find.
Gwen Scott
