This is exciting news. I knew the son, Daniel was a soldier but I had no idea Josephus was too. He would have been in his 50s so I never looked. I have also never seen him listed as Josephus N Pew, I had always asumed there was no middle name. Guess that what happens when one assumes. I do happen to be going to the Archives on Monday. I live in a sub-burb of Washington DC. If you can send me what information you have on his service I might be able to find his records. This will actually be my first time doing military records search so who knows what will happen.

The sources I have is the 1850 - 1880 census, His will and both his marriage registrations. I don't have a copy of the birthday book. My mother copied that years ago and I don't even know from where she got it. I will be happy to send you copies. I would be interested in any information you have on Samuel. I'm interested in completing the family. Hope to hear from you soon. Audrey
