There seems to be significant disagreement among the "real" Pew researchers I know as to the identity of John Pew's parents. One view is that John's father was the Thomas Pew who was living in Fayette Co. at the time of the 1800 US census. Another view is that this Thos Pew was NOT John's father. I claim ignorance, and have not done enough research to say, one way or another. The only other western PA candidate of the era was a Wm Pugh in Wash. Co. (Peters Twp, I believe) in the 1790 census.
