My connection to this line is fairly weak. Daniel's second (or third) wife, Louisa S. Kinnaman, was a half-sister of my great-grandmother, Adelia (Ferguson) Betts. Louisa married Daniel in 1889 in Laurens, Iowa, and they had three daughters. I have only traced him in an attempt to unlock some of the mysteries about my line, so what I have on the Pew/Pugh family is pretty meager. Josephus Pew married Frances Lantz and they had five children, evidenced by their appearance in the 1850 U.S. Census for Ohio, Guernsey Co., Centre Twp. (The surname is spelled "Pugh".) Frances died in 1846, and Josephus remarried late that same year to Clarinda Elizabeth Black. The children of Josephus and Frances are: (1) George, b. 13 Aug 1835; (2) Sarah Jane, b. 23 Jun 1837, d. 1872; (3) Samuel, b. 04 Mar 1839; Daniel, b. 11 Jan 1841, d. 14 Feb 1914; and Julie Anne, b. 01 Apr 1844. Josephus and Clarinda and 4 of the children (Sarah Jane must have married before that date) appear in the 1860 U.S. Census for Iowa, Iowa Co., Dayton Twp. under the name "Powe". Josephus and Elizabeth (her middle name) Pew show up in the 1870 U.S. Census in the same location. Again, other than the Census information, many of my sources come from GenForum. Please let me know if there is any other assistance I can give.
