St. Petersburg: 110 candles Series: HISTORY
St. Petersburg Times; St. Petersburg, Fla.; Feb 27, 2002; SCOTT TAYLOR HARTZELL;

The world's first paid passenger flight left St. Petersburg on New Year's Day 1914. Tony Jannus piloted; former mayor A.C. Pheil paid $400 for his seat. "The chilling winds whistled through the speeding plane and we both had to tighten up our garments," Pheil said.

(I am a former neighbor of Tommy, Peter and David Pheil and lived on Hyacinth Way south - was known as Jacki Schneider way back then. I am doing my own family's genealogy research now and having a ball with it. Say hi to your family for me.
I now live in northern California after living ten years in San Miquel de Allende, GTO., Mexico)
