My husband, Paul, is descended from George Alphonce Pfeil/File.

George was born around the 1830's in Germany. He married Fides Fogle also of Germany and they resided on a farm in Meyersdale, Somerset Co, PA. Their children included Paul's grgrdmother, Anna Maria b. 5 June 1856 at Meyersdale, PA.

Of George's Civil War service, we know initially he hired a substitute but family history indicates he later served on his own behalf suffering a fatal wound. Burial site possibly eastern Maryland. His widow later remarried and relocated in Pittsburgh, Allegheny Co area of PA.

We would be interested in communicating with you and sharing what information we both have on this Somerset Co Pheil family.
