Pflug UK family name change......
Posted by: Steve Richard Date: November 14, 2001 at 04:07:55

Hi, My grandfather's family name was Pflug. I only recently discovered this. He lived in the south of the UK, but moved his whole family to Sudan for a few years (he was a civil engineer). Then moved back and lived in Bromley, Beckenham and then Bexhill (maybe it was a fixation with the letter B).

Bernhard was his first name I believe, but changed to Bernard. Known by his friends as 'Bunny'.

Changed family name because German / Austrian names not very popular around the war years. Changed to Richard (an Angilcisation of Reichardt, one of his middle names).

Anyone know of a similar situation, or know any more UK Pflug history?

Cheers - Steve
