If you are researching Col. Robert Phayre (also spelled Phaire)or any of his descendents, I highly recommend the book "Cromwell's Legacy: A History of the Phayre Family in Ireland" publised in 2002 by Barbara A. Phayre(email: Roger@rphayre.freeserve.co.uk). The book only identifies two marriages. The first to Elizabeth Houghton (no documentation of the marriage but strong circumstantial evidence). They had the following children: Onesipherous (b abt 1649), John, Elizabeth, Mary (b abt 1656), and Robin. Second Marriage to Elizabeth Herbert (was documented). They had the following children together: John (b abt 1678), Thomas (b abt 1659), Frances (b 1660's), Lucy (b 1660's), Elizabeth (b1660), Alexander Herbert (b abt 1670), and Robert. Interesting to note he named a daughter from his second marriage Elizabeth despite already having a daughter Elizabeth by the first marriage that was still living. I am descendent of the second marriage. I would be very interested if there was a third marriage as I only know of the two.
