Thanks for responding to my message. My Phairs came from Rhode Island, I don't really know enough about my grandfather, William Phair's parental family. He was a chauffeur for the Vanderbilt family at the "Breakers" in Rhode Island where he met his wife Catherine H Murray of Canada, she was a cook there. They married in 1918, in 1920 they were living in Dorchester, MA where William worked as a chauffeur for the Pride family, in the 1930's he worked for the New Haven Railroad. My grandparents were living in Dedham, MA at that time, their name was changed to Fair (not legally). An enumerater mispelled their name and it was never changed back. Thanks for your help, Judith
