I have the following on Elizabeth Holton Farr:
1806 Michael Powers Oglethrope Co., GA “for and in consideration of the love and good will and affection which I have and do bear towards Elizabeth Holton
Pharr of the county and state aforesaid and have given and granted and by those present do freely give and grant unto the said Elizabeth Holton Pharr her heirs, executors, or administrators on Negro female child name China about two and one half years old being in my present dwelling house in the county and state foresaid which before the signing of these present I have delivered the said negro child unto the said Elizabeth Holton Pharr to have and to hold the aforesaid Negro child at the aforesaid dwelling house to her the said Elizabeth Holton Pharr her heirs and executors or administrators from henceforth or her and their proper right absolutely without any manner of consideration in sitness where of I have henceto put my hand and seal this 28th day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eight.” Signed Michael Powers Witnessed - Margaret Pharr Oglethorphe County, Georgia Book E page 405
I would like to know the connection between Elizabeth Holton Farr and Michael Powers. My records show Machael Powers marrying Jane Tobair Aug 18, 1803 in Oglethorpe Co., Ga. One cousin recently suggested that the TOBAIR might really be FHARR/FHAIR, the written letter P could look like To, the letter H could look like a B. Do you know of a Jane Pharr who married a Powers?
