From chapter X on page 358. From a letter from Samuel E. W. Pharr in North Carolina to his cousin Smiley Messlin Farr of Indiana. says there were 9 brothers who got into a rebellion in the old country? Was this in Scotland or Ireland? So the 9 go to America and land in Philadelphia. Then four remained there. We only have these four name. Henry, George, Edward and Ephraim. The other five came south. Three settled in Cabarrus C. NC. Two of them went to South Carolina. one in Richland C. the other in Union C. Said they spelled there name Farr till 1828 when Walter Farr changed his spelling to Pharr. It goes on to say one Grand Uncle Robert never changed the spelling of his name. One of the four who stayed in Philadelphia was a eminent Lawyer. It's said his name to be Jas. W. Farr.
This info was related by a Mrs. Coletta of Van Buren Indiana.
