V. K Phar was the son of Ephraim Phair and Jane last name unknown. He dropped the second r in last name. He was born 1798 in Mecklengurg C. NC but gave on census he was born in Tennessee. he d. Feb. 1860 Salem, Iowa. His first wife was Mahala McAlister b. bet 1790 and 1800 place unknown. She must have d. bet 1840 and 1845 Warrick C. Indiana. Looks like here with V. K on 1840 census.He married Zelda Jane Armstrong 1845 in Boonville, Indiana. She was b. 1815 Ohio and d. bet 1870 and 1880
notes: 4.3.11 says dropped the second r in name. Was the youngest of 10 or 11 children of Ephraim Pharr, Jr. He moved from Sumner C., Tenn. between 1814 and 1818 to Posey C., Indiana. After 1845 he moved to Salem, Iowas where he died.He is shown on the 1820 Vanderburg C. Census pg. 182. He opposed slavery and wrote about it to his brother Samuel who owned slaves.
