I also am researching this name. I can find very little information in the Virginia records, other than his will of 1749. There is one reference in the St. Paul's Parish prossioners list showing Abram Phenix in Hanover County, VA in 1731. As spelling of names was not standard in that time period, Penix, Penick, Phenix, and Phoenix could be the same family. There was a William Phenix listed as immagration into Lancaster County, VA in 1663. No other records of William nor his family can be yet located, unless he moved soon after to Maryland, where there are many Phenix/Fenix family records. In any case Abraham Phenix is presently at a brickwall for information any further back for me.
