Joseph COLBY was born on 1 AUG 1680 in Amesbury, Essex County, Massachusetts. He was baptized on 27 JUN 1731 in Amesbury, Essex County, Massachusetts. He was living on 31 MAY 1752 in Hampstead, Rockingham County, New Hampshire. He had his estate probated on 23 MAY 1754 in Hampstead, Rockingham County, New Hampshire. He died in 1753/54 at Hampstead, Rockingham County, New Hampshire. He has Ancestral File Number FHW0-08. He lived in that part of Amesbury which became Hampstead, New Hampshire in 1741. He owned the covenant of the First Church in Amesbury and was baptized, 27 Jun 1731.

In 1718, Joseph Colby sold to his brother his lands in Amesbury and bought lands in the part of Amesbury that is now in Hampstead, where he settled for the rest of his life.

Mary (Philbrick) Johnson Colby, was born, probably in Hampton NH, between 1701-1706 (The History of Hampton probably has the correct date), daughter of James and Sarah (___) PHILBRICK. James was son of James and Ann (ROBERTS) PHILBRICK and grandson of Thomas and Elizabeth (KNAPP?) PHILBRICK and of Thomas ROBERTS. See Noyes, Libby and Davis p. 545.
