Your Nellie Philbrook Spear appears to be my grandmother Minnie Belle Philbrook Shields's sister. One of my cousins has a letter written by Minnie Belle when she was staying, I think in Lynn, MA, and two of Nellie's children died in her arms of one of the fevers rampant at that time, about 1892. Here is a sheet which one of the Philbrook family forum kindly posted to me a year or so ago, which accords with my father's recollections.
1. Seth PHILBROOK1 was born on 5 Feb 1834 in Belfast, Knox, Maine.2
He died on 17 Jun 1915 in Union, Knox, Maine.2
Seth PHILBROOK and Olive Marie EVANS were married on 14 Mar 1860 in Union, Knox, Maine.2
Olive Marie EVANS2 (daughter of Elisha P PROCTOR and Abigail N. COLLINS) was born on 30 Mar 1840 in Camden,
Knox, Maine.2,3
She died on 2 Nov 1926 in Union, Knox, Maine.2
Seth PHILBROOK and Olive Marie EVANS had the following children:
+2 i. Nellie M. PHILBROOK (born on 18 May 1861).
+3 ii. Minnie Belle PHILBROOK (born on 3 Mar 1865).
4 iii. Fred B. PHILBROOK was born on 6 Mar 1866.3 He appeared in the census in 1880 in Sedgwick,
Harvey, Kansas. Age 14, working on farm, born Maine, parents born Maine. Living with Uncle
George W. Philbrook and Aunt Harriet.
Let me know a direct address and I'll post you the entire PDF file. Bruce in Vermont.
