I am trying to resolve some seemingly conflicting information concerning one of Andrew Schuyler Philhower's (8/21/1818-4/9/1898) sons - Nathaniel B. (1865-?).
In the Biographical and Genealogical History of Morris County, New Jersey Vol. II (The Lewis Publishing Company, New York & Chicago 1899), this quote is found: "Mr. Philhower was married in 1847 to Miss Hannah Moore, daughter of John and Esther (McKinstry) Moore. Of the children born to them we record that Theodore married a Miss Walters; Mary is the wife of John Lance; Gertie is the wife of Willard Apgar; Nathaniel B. wedded a lady of his own name, Emma Philhower; Carrie is the wife of Daniel Fleming; and Jennie is Mrs. Sidney Lance."
Nathaniel is found with the family in the 1860 & 1870 censuses but not later.
A original unsourced newspaper clipping has the following: "Many relatives and friends gathered Saturday night at the home of Mr. And Mrs. Klinck Philhower, of Fairmount, in honor of their golden wedding anniversary. The couple were married at Chester August 23, 1883. Mr. Philhower, a son of the late Andrew and Hannah Philhower, was born at Middle Valley and with the exception of twelve years spent in California, has lived in New Jersey. Mrs. Philhower, a daughter of the late Issac and Anna Philhower, was born at Everittstown. Four sons and a daughter resulted from the union. They are: Edward Philhower, of Parker; Ray Philhower, of Clinton; George Philhower, of Gladstone; Frank Philhower, Emmett Philhower and Mrs. Robert Alpaugh, at home. They have nine grandchildren." Other sources indicate that the daughter of Isaac & Hannah Philhower who married a Philhower was Emma.
Anyone able to transform Nathaniel to Klinick?
