Philippe/Phillips/Philip etc in SC

My husbands ancestors came from SC in the late 1700's. we have a Jacob Phillips b. abt 1775 from Hampton Co. SC from whom they descend. I cannot find his ancestors although I've heard they were from Wales originally or Scotland. Jacob m. a Nancy or Lucretia Long in SC about 1800. they had at least 3 kids; Jacob 2, Jane, Margaret. Jacob 2 b. 12-12-1801. He had 3 wives; Mary or Nancy Freeman,Mary Lancaster, and Mary Ginn. My husband is from Mary Lancaster and Jacob 2. His son Bartley>Joseph Horace >Joseph Jay Phillips. Can you help me find Joseph 1 parents, etc.....Donale Phillips
