Thank you for the information.
My grandfather Xavier Philippe was born in the Ottawa area in approximately 1870 and had two brothers and a sister. They all lived in the Arlington ,Champagne st. areas in the 1920's.
My grandfather married Helene Ladouceur and had three sons born in 1914 and later called Lucien, Rene, and Ivanoe. They also lived in the Preston St. area.
My dad Lucien had two sons Donald and Roy.
I have tried through the 1883 and 1900 census at the National archives in Ottawa to get more family history but it is a manual microfilm search which is very time consuming
and difficult as I do not live in Ottawa.
There are Philippe.s in the 1883 census living in Mesham who we may be related to.
One other difficulty I am havig is the spelling of Philippe in that some relatives may a one time used the Phillippe spelling.
I have been advised that birth records may be more comprehensive in Quebec. do you have any experience in the use of these records?
I am trying to put this together for my grandson, the last of the Philippe family I can trace.
