Can you tell me where you find the 1749 Phoenix list which lists the wife and son, George Frantz age 9? I have never been able to find a list with women and children listed---only the men and no ages.
This record seems to answer some questions (why I keep seeing references to George Frantz jr's father being in America as well), but poses other problems. Where are the other children? If George Frantz jr was age 9 when he arrived, how could he have served as a teamster in Braddock's army? --- he would have been 15 at the time which seems too young. If it was he father who went, he would have been 52 in 1755, which seems a little old. This age for George Frantz jr (9) does not fit the baptismal record for him (1726), but accords better with birth dates of his children (1766-1782).
It has always seemed to me that the Phoenix list had to refer to George Frantz junior, who, based on the Alsace birth record, would have been 23 when he arrived and 29 in 1755. It made him a little old for his children born in Somerset (1766-1782)and suggests perhaps a missing earlier family that we do not know about.
Does anyone have any insights into this? What am I missing?
