You and LOTS of other Phillippi researchers have your Andrews all mixed up. Don't know who, but someone has got this UNDOCUMENTED data spread all over the internet.
1. There were 2 Andrew J. Phillippis. One, a son of Joseph and Sarah (King)Phillippi, married the Hall girl. That family lived in the Speedwell area of Wythe County, VA.
2. The other Andrew J., born 1837, Wythe Co., VA, d 1928(9), in Athol, SD was a son of John & Mary (Wiseley) Phillippi. This family moved about 1875, to SD. It is this Andrew who married the Hackler lady. It is this Andrew J., who was the father of Charles Louis (Deacon) Phillippi, who pitched for the Pittsburgh Pirates in the early 1900s.
This info will not be found on FTM, Ancestory.com, or any of the other sites that contains undocumented facts. It can be found in the census reports, old deeds & wills, and other official records in the court house here in Wytheville, VA, and from living descendants of John & Mary (Wiseley) Phillippi.
You may want to check out my website at:
the site has a brief line of the early Phillippi family here in Wythe Co, VA, and some data on Deacon Phillippi.
Don't know how one would change all this erroneous data on the 2 A.J. Phillippis that are all over the internet.....Joe
