Descendant of Sergt. Henry Wells, Henry Wheatly, and John Phillips, of Maryland.
Daughter of George Featherston and Rachel Editha Phillips, his wife.
Granddaughter of John Phillips (1802-73) and Matilda Pumphrey (1802-53), his wife (m. 1826).
Gr.-granddaughter of Thomas Phillips and Mary Wheatly, his wife; Joshua Pumphrey and Editha Wells (1783-1858), his wife (m. 1801).
Gr.-gr.-granddaughter of John Phillips; Henry Wheatly; Henry Wells and Jemima Coe (1755-1819), his wife.
Henry Wells, (1754-1814), a graduate of William and Mary college, served as sergeant in Col. Burgess Ball's regiment. He was born in Baltimore, Md.; Died in Wellsburg, Va., (Fort Wells).
Henry Wheatly enlisted, 1777, for three years in the First Company under Capt. John Davidson, Maryland Line.
John Phillips served as a private. He was on a trading vessel, 1781, on the Cheasapeake, furnishing supplies for the army when it was captured. His brother James was taken prisoner but he escaped.
