Hi, Roxie,
If that is your Phillips family on the 1850 census, I think I can tell you a little more about them.On the 1840 census in Mercer Co PA, your Thomas Phillips is living next to a David Phillips age 30-39 and a Sarah Phillips age 60-69.They are living on Sandy Creek.I think Sarah is Thomas' mother and David is Thomas' brother.Sarah appears to be a widow.
On the 1830 census in Mercer County PA on Sandy Creek, there are two heads of household, Thomas age 50-59 and Isaac Phillips age 100+.I suspect Thomas was the father of your Thomas Phillips.
If I am correct, this Thomas Phillips was born 23 March 1774 in Washington County PA and he was married to Sarah Hazen. His father was David Phillips who was born 26 March 1743.David's father was Joseph Phillips who was supposedly born 1716 in Pembrokeshire, Wales.
We have DNA tested several descendants of Joseph Phillips b 1716 and they belong to Phillips Family DNA Group 15.Here is a link to the lineage page for Group 15:

If you have a male Phillips relative who would be willing to take a painless and private Y-DNA test, you could prove that this is your Phillips family.
Sincerely,
Nancy Kiser
