I am a Phillips, my father was Cecil Emory Phillips.I have a book of family history which confirms that our family is direct descendent of DanielE. Phillips who owned land at one time in Wilkes County, Georgia, his birthdate about 1750-1760.Daniel was born in Ireland and after completing a course of study at a college there, he was sent to France and after completing a course of study at a college there, he was sent to Paris for further study. While in school in Paris, he joined the military forces of General La Fayette at the age of fourteen, or there about.Upon learning of his enlistment, his father went from Ireland to Paris with a bushel of gold and another young man to take his place, which the authorities consented to, but Daniel refused to abide by his father's wishes and came to America in the army of La Fayette, serving as a fife player. After the revolution, he settled in North Carolina. His children were: John, Joe, Silas, Benjamin, Eliza, Susan and Permelia. We may be kin, it would be nice to find unknown relatives. My grandfather's name was John Charlton Phillips.I'll dig further and try to find more information connecting our two families.I had a cousin named David Phillips who died in the 1950's, also from Houston.Let me hear from you, Ben.
