BRIAN PHILPOT GENEALOGY NOW AVAILABLE
My article "Brian Philpot Family of Maryland: With Notes on English Relatives," has been published in THE GENEALOGIST magazine, volume 17, number 2 (Fall 2003), available now from Picton Press, PO Box 250, Rockport ME 04856-0250. It deals with the London mercantile firm of Philpot & Co., their American agent Brian Philpot of Baltimore, who married Mary Johns by 1747. The genealogy follows their descendants to the fourth generation in Baltimore and Frederick counties, Maryland. No evidence was found to indicate a relationship with other American Philpot settlers.Extensive research in English source records failed to reveal positive evidence of Brian Philpot's birth, origin, and parentage. He was definitely a nephew of Brian and John Philpot, the London merchants, whose families are described in the article.
