Your Grandfather, Peter Low Leslie Fimister, and my Grandfather, Walter Aitchison Paxton Fimister were cousins.
Your Great Grandfather Alexander Paxton Fimister who married Williamina Gilchrist, and my Great Grandfather George Fimister who married Elizabeth Kerr Sime were brothers.
Their parents were William Fimister
born 1833 in Brechin
died 1909 in Panbride
and May Ford Paxton
born 1837 in Brechin
died 1915 in Panbride
They married in 1864 at Cairnbank cottage, near Brechin.
William was a Tailor (Journeyman)
May Ford Paxton must have been a grand old lady and a big influence on the Fimisters as 2 of my Grandfather's brothers and 1 sister had Paxton in their middle names. I also noted that the name had passed down to your uncle Alexander.
With reference to your original query about Fimisters in Kirkcaldy in the 1900s.
I have looked up direct enquiries and there are still 2 Fimisters living in Kirkcaldy. I have their addresses and tel Nos but would not wish to give them out in a forum such as this (I don't even know them). However I could E mail them to you direct. Failing that try this web site:
This is the UK direct enquiries for telephone Nos. Do a search on people with the name Fimister in Fife area.
Hope this is of help!
