In my long search for my Phimisters, I have also found the name spelled:

Phinister (this was probably was a misspelled or transcribed version), Fimister, Femister, Fimester, Feemster, and Femester as well.

The Scotland's People web site doesn't have the world's best Soundex system, so it took me a very long time to locate my great-great grandfather's christening record.
