Phimister - Nairn and Moray area
Posted by: Ewan McNeil (ID *****4190) Date: January 25, 2009 at 05:01:51

Hello,

Found out yesterday that another branch of my family were Phimister's. I now live in Elgin, Scotland - but was born and bred in Nairn, Scotland - about 22 miles West along the coast towards Inverness.

As far as I know (at least in this area) Phimister was a 'fishing families' surname (these familes were involved in fishing in this area - mainly from Norway etc originally (Barrons, Mains, Phimisters etc).

Would be interested to hear from anyone else out there that this may ring a bell with).

Thansk to anyone reading this and hopes that life treats you well.

Ewan Grant McNeil
