What time period is your Silas Phinn?

As you can see from my original posting that the family was in the Racine WI area (per hand-me-down story). I found an obit for my Alfred's son Justus which said he was born in Kane Co IL, but Justus' descendants say he was born in Chicago city proper. Kane Co IL is in the Cook (Chicago) county area, so it's feasible, but since his daughter is the one who gave the information I would say that her descendants found information in her papers which contradicted her or she gave two different birthplaces not realizing one day someone would be researching the family.

I'm curious about your Silas and where he married. I would like to use it as a beginning to search the Canadian records. I suspect that Phinn is pronounced "fin" and that the family was of French descent originally and now referred today as French Canadian.
