At least a couple different people around Virginia and North Carolina were named Fielden/Fielding. The name appears to have been spelled both ways.

A Fielden Fipps was a public school commissioner in Fayette County, Virginia in 1848.

A Fielden Phipps lived from 1848 to 1918 in Ashe County, Noth Carolina. This is very close to Grayson County, Virginia, but he appears to have lived in Ashe County all his life. He was a son of Greenberry Phipps and his wife Matilda (Weaver) Phipps.

An 1827 record shows a Fielding Phipps marrying Eleanor Ellison in Monroe County, West Virginia.

In 1835 and 1836, a Fielding Fips received West Virginia land grants on Sand Lick Fork, according to Sims Index to Land Grants in West Virginia.
