My Grandmother Rose Anna Picha was born Aug.4,1895 in Hornosin,Czech Republic. Her parents were Joseph and Frances Picha. My grandmother was the youngest of 9 children. Her siblings were Josphine, Francis, Vaclav, Anna, Mary, Philomena, Joseph, Jan. I have found all siblings, except Josephine and Vaclav. Both came to America in the early part of the 20th. century, as did my grandmother. Josephine married Ernest Triska, in New York city, and had 5 children: Johanna, Anna, Mary Rosie and Ernest. Vaclav might have imigrated out West somewhere?
I have been to Hornosin twice and have been to the archive in Trebon, Czech Republic. Wonderful archive and very excellent record keeping. Some records are on microfilm and the ones that aren't, you can actully touch the real record books! If you get the chance, please go there. You must write to the archive and ask for an appointment. The archive room only holds about 15 or 20 people at a time. My wildest story on my second visit, was when the new owners of my Grandmother's birth cottage, found my Great-grandparent's 16X20 inch wedding photo, in the attic from 1872! What a treasure to bring back to America! I hope this information on the Picha family helps someone? email
