Attention Descendents of Gen. Andrew Pickens

There is an effort underway to restore his plantation home, Hopewell. It is located on the Clemson campus and both Gen. Andrew Pickens and his son Gov. Andrew Pickens, Jr. lived there. You will find out more information and how you can help by contacting the Department of Historic Properties at (864) 656-2475.

I was recently at Hopewell for a meeting and saw a wonderful presentation on its history and the efforts to stabilize and restore the old house. The presentation is also linked to the website. A young couple stopped by for some pictures while we finished up our meeting. What a real treat to learn their new baby daughter was the 8th great granddaughter of Gen. Pickens!
