Sabrina..There is data about a John Pickel family that resided in the Durham County, Darlington Township area of Ontario. John was noted to be married first to Peggy Hughes and then to Mary (Polly ) Conant. The children (by both wives) were reported to be William c1790-c18?? m.1)Nancy Wilson and 2) Mrs. Ann Carroll, Norma, Catherine, Polly, Anne, Thursa, Hannah, Sarah, John, Levi, Wilmot, and George. (Not proven, some speculation)
This William may be your man. However, the data I saw said he went on to Iowa and died sometime in 1890's.
The William Pickell who was the father of Albert Afton from your posting must have been some other man, since the original William Pickel would have been in his 70's by then. Since you have him dying in 1847 in WI, questions arise.
Good luck! Gene#
