Eric,

I was very interested in your post! There are so many similarities.

I have Eliza Pickle, born November 16, 1832, Ontario, Canada. She married William Nolan, also born in Ontario. Their son Frank Nolan was born about 1857, Scogog Island, Ontario.

About 1858, they moved to somewhere in Michigan. William enlistd in the 3rd Michigan Cavalry in 1862, his residence listed as Kalamazoo. The 1870 Census shows them living in New River, Huron County, Michigan. I have not yet found them in the 1860 Census.

Eliza's death record lists her parents as being Niles Pickel and Mary Scoffield, although perhaps Scoffield is actually Scovel??? I have not been able to find any additional information on the name Niles Pickel. Could he have actually been the Thomas Pickle who married Mary Scovill???

Eliza and William's daughter Lena Isabel Nolan McDonald was my Great-Grandmother.

Thanks,
Andrea Whitaker
