I have two conflicting lines for David Jones Pickle, mine (based on more recent research) and my grandmother's (Mrs Mabel Huckaby, whose grandfather was John Scott Pickle, DJP's son).

1) My grandmother has DJP's parents as Jacob Pickle (1772-1837 of Augusta & Wythe Cos, VA, son of John Pickles & Margaret Scott) and Susanne Loucks (1765-1841 of Berks Co., PA (married 5 April 1794 in Augusta Co, daughter of George Loucks Jr & Susan Allison), carrying it back through John, George, Nathan Pickles to Jonas Pickles of Plymouth, MA. This earlier part has long struck me as somewhat unlikely, though the Lincoln family followed a similiar path southward.

2) I have the family beginning with Henry Pickle, who arrived in Augusta Co., VA around 1763, and becoming a naturalized citizen 1767; he lived near the head of the south fork of the Potomac, and died c1810. He had apparently four sons as of 1764: John, Daniel, Christian and Henry. Most of these moved on to Wythe Co.

At this point it becomes a bit confused; in one list I have Henry Jr, son of Henry, as the father of David Jones Pickle; on another I follow my grandmother's lead by making Jacob a son of John and a brother of Henry (not a Jr) instead. The Pickle family in Wythe Co seemed a bit mixed; the destruction of records during the Civil War didn't help either {:-(

I'm not sure if this is of any help.
