I see this is an old posting so I don't know if you've found the information you're searching for. I too am searching for members of the Pickle family that lived in Hastings County and also in Northumberland.

Per marriage records on Ellen Maud Pickle married John Wesley Hyatt Dec.28.1897 Murray Twp., Northumberland. Ellen's parents were listed as Allen W. Pickle and Kate Rilling? (This is how the name was spelled on the marriage record). John Wesley Hyatt's parents were John Hyatt and Elizabeth Pickle.

I am searching for information about Levi Pickle who married Sarah Hartwick, daughter of John A. Hartwick and Mary Ann Kelly. As far as I know, they had only one son Samuel Pickle born abt. 1864 but I can't find any further information about him. Levi Pickle is not listed in the 1871 Census, so I assume he died prior to this time. The 1871 Census shows Sarah Pickle, 42, born abt. 1829, German nativity, living in Camden East, Addington Co. as head of the household. Sarah Hartwick Pickle died in Olden, Frontenac Sept.3.1909 at the age of 82 years.

I believe that Levi Pickle was a son of Elias Pickle and Elizabeth Oliver. I found Elias and Elizabeth on the 1851 Census for Hastings County with their children Levi 13, Louisa 12, John 10, George 8, James 6, and Charles 4. Living with them was Rachael Oliver 66. I assume this would be Elizabeth's mother.

I found a website stating that Elizabeth Oliver was a daughter of John Oliver and Rachael Kelly who were married Mar.13.1803 in Richmond. John Oliver's residence was stated as Richmond/Murray Townships. Children born to them were Samuel, Elizabeth, David, Frederick, Mary, Catharine, Jane, Sanford and Cornelius Oliver.

Per records on Elias Pickle was born abt 1817 Canada and died July 3, 1888 in Cobourg, Northumberland (no parents noted on his death reg.) James Pickle was the informant. Elias Pickle and his wife Elizabeth Oliver must have moved from Hastings as I've noted on Ancestry records marriages and deaths for some of their children born in Hastings that also married and died in Northumberland. I feel there must be a connection somewhere between them and the other Northumberland Pickle families, but what is it?

Next door to Elias and Elizabeth on this same page of the 1851 Census for Hastings is Benjamin Franklin Pickle 30 and his wife Elizabeth 25 with their children Priscilla 4, Margaret 2 and Sarah 1. I assume Elias and Benjamin may have been brothers or cousins since they were living beside ech other in this Census.

I haven't yet found a death reg. for Benjamin Franklin Pickle. His wife Elizabeth was said to be born in Fredricksburgh and died in Hastings Apr.14.1889 but no parents are noted on her death reg. either.

I found a marriage for Elizabeth Pickle born abt 1855 in Trenton, Hastings to Fanklin and Elizabeth Pickle who married Frederick Oliver born abt 1856 Brighton Twp., Northumberland. They married Dec.19.1877 in Northumberland. I believe Elizabeth was most likely a daughter to Benjamin Franklin Pickle and his wife Elizabeth - Benjamin must have used the name Franklin at times rather than Benjamin Franklin.

If anyone has information about how the Elias and Benjamin Franklin Pickle families from Hastings and Northumberland counties connect to each other, and who their parents/ancestors were, I would be so happy to hear from you. Were they somehow connected to John Pickle UE? His daughter Catherine Pickle married George Schryver and I believe his daughter Nancy married John Black. Thanks. Audrey
