All I know about her is that she was the first wife of my 3rd gr-grandfather's half-uncle, George Pickelsimer.According to information I found on the internet, she was born c. 1828 in Buncombe Co., NC and died 4-24-1865.
According to the 1830 Buncombe Co., NC census, there were only two Vaughns living in Buncombe Co., NC.One was Gracy Vaughn, who had living with her:2 males under 5, 1 male 5-14, 2 males 15-19, 1 female under 5 (Lucinda?), 2 females 5-4, 1 female 15-19 and 1 female 30-39 (Gracy?).The other was Leroy Vaughn who lived a few doors down from Gracy. He had in his household:1 male 20-29, 1 male 40-49, 1 female 10-14, 1 female 60-69.Therefore, the only Vaughn household in Buncombe Co., NC that had a daughter under the age of 5 is Gracy's household.Gracy was probably a widow. The female listed in Leroy's household age 60-69 is probably his mother. It's also quite possible that Gracy was Leroy's sister-in-law.PURE SPECULATION!!However, it might be something worth investigating.
I know this isn't much, but I hope it helps!GOOD LUCK!!
