This is Jan, aunt of Kevan (who posted the note that you replied to). There are several different spellings of Pickrel in Virginia, but I confess that I only know how I am related to my parents who currently live in Fairfax County. Although their travels are many (my nuclear family lived in Nebraska, Texas, California - siblings and their kids still do, Washington State, and Arizona), my parents were both born in Nebraska in 1921.
Regarding other Pickrels and Pickrells and possibly a Pickeral in Virginia and Maryland, I was often mistaken as a member of the Pickrel (spelling uncertain) family that currently lives in Madison County, VA. I have also been often questioned whether I am related to a District of Columbia fireman named Pickrel (spelling uncertain, relationship unknown).
I know of Pickrells in the Norfolk, VA area. A Janice Pickrell (by marriage) went to the College of William & Mary in the ...1950s(?). Her kids, Jim Pickrell and Janice Irene Pickrell attended the College of William & Mary in the early 1980s. Janice Irene graduated in 1981, Jim...in 1983(?), and then I graduated in 1984. However, I don't know of any relationship between those Pickrells and me (Pickrel).
