I have just found the Genforum for the Pickstock family name and was interested to note that our lines appear to share common roots. The following information may allow you to expand your research, apologies if you already have the information.

The Herbert Pickstock 1858, of Winsford you mention was my Great Grandfather. He was born 14/01/1858 in Over, Cheshire and was the eldest of five children born to Solomon Pickstock 5/02/1832 – 25/12/1883 and Margaret Hulse 9/03/1831 – 28/12/1882. Herbert died 13/05/1913

His siblings were Ada 1859, Harold 1862-1947, Edgar 1855 and Lucy 1867.
Harold married one Mary Roberts 1862 – 1934 and their line is traced through four generations to the present, with their descendants living in the Derbyshire area of the UK.

Herbert married Mary Hughes 1864 – 1943 at Over Lane Chapel on 18/1/1883 and they had seven children, Eli 1884, Samuel (Solomon) 1884 – 1960 who was my grandfather, Ada 1885, Thomas Herbert (Bert) 1887, Sidney 1890, Ernest (Ernie) 1891 and Cyril 1894. I have a formal photograph of Mary and all of her children as adults taken after my Great grandfathers death.

I believe the Eli Pickstock 1898 of New Ferry you mention was my fathers first cousin and I have recollections of meeting him at various times during the 1950’s and 60’s, I also have photographs of him.

Herbert’s father, Solomon 1832, who you mention, was the eighth of twelve siblings, the others being James 1817, Martha 1819, Samuel 1821, Thomas 1823, Noah 1825, Eli 1828 Julius Ceaser 1830, Samson 1834, Maria 1837, Julia 1840 and Francis 1842

Solomon 1832’s parents were Thomas Pickstock 1792 – 1864 and Maria Reade 1800 who where married at St Chad’s in over on 25/08/1816. Thomas was the eldest of eight siblings the others being Mary 1794, Nancy 1797, Margaret 1799, Samuel 1801, Job 1804, James 1807 and Daniel 1810.

Thomas 1792 was the son of Samuel 1768 that you mention and Margaret (Peggy) Gandy. They were married at St Helens in Witton, Cheshire on 26/12/1791.

Samuel 1768 was the son of Samuel 1736 and Mary Read. Samuel was also the eldest of eight siblings, the others being Martha 1739, Joseph 1742, Mary 1744, Isaac 1747, Ruth 1748, Ester 1748 and Eleanor 1751.

Samuel’s parents were Richard Pickstock 19/04/1699 – 14/01/1768 of Bostock, Cheshire and Sarah Broom. They were married at Witton Chapel in Northwich, Cheshire on 24/07/1735. Richard is buried in Witton Chapel. Other than the marriage records, to date it has not been possible to find any record of Sarah Broom.

Richard 1699 was the son of Richard Pickstock c1665 – 1/04/1720 and Ellen Green c 1665 – 6/02/1711. They were married in St Wilfrids Church at Davenham, Cheshire. Richard died in Bostock and Ellen in Leftwich.

If you would like any further information, or copies of photographs and certificates of record etc. please contact me off the board
