My Great Gradfather came to we believe New York with his brother Wilburt Picone. My Great Grandfather Joseph Picone was either from Genoa or Sicily, there is conflicting data. He was born in August 1852. Supposedly he was 14 years old and was a stoaway on a ship to New York or New Orleans which would be in 1866 or 1867. He was found and turned over to the captain who made him cabin boy and taught him english. Supposedly if he came in to New York, he worked on the docks until going to Louisiana. He later migrated to Houma, Louisiana and married Louise Buford. Any information that may be availble whould greatly be appreciated.
