I just peeked at Pieper to see if there were really any out there. I had hit a dead end on Pieper a couple years ago when we were living in Germany. I have my Piepers back to Luisenthal bei Lubzin in Pommern. Wilhelm Pieper m. Maria Wegner. They had at least one child Franz Heinrich Albert Pieper b. Sept 4, 1864. They were there until maria died and Wilhelm moved to be with his son Franz in Hamburg-Altona area. Stettin is the big city over the border from the former East Germany in what is now Poland. Luisenthal is just a few miles out of town. The churches there in Poland don't have any records. The Germans took them or burned them so as not to have the Pols get them after WWII when they lost that land. There is a repository of sorts for the originals in Berlin, although I never made it there to look. The mormons will tell you they have them all copied. I too was very unsuccessful in Stettin. It is not so much the unwillingness to help, but as the German families were pushed back into what is former E. Germany after the war, and the Pols. were basically told to go to this land and start over, there is not any history there to be had. Would love to see if we are in teh same ball park with Piepers.
