Your post here made me laugh. I'm 53 years old now but can clearly remember my parents and 2 older sisters and myself driving from Oakland, California to Davenport, Iowa in 1959 to visit my dad's uncle, Will Pieper.
When I saw the family nameplate hanging on their porch I got so excited because I never knew anyone else with our name. I shouted to my dad "look daddy, their last name is PIE-PER too"!!! My dad's uncle got pretty upset and quickly informed my whole family that our family name is PEEPER!! (I'm still glad that my grandpa changed the pronunciation when came came West!)
None of your names sound familiar. My grandfather was Herman. He married Ella Clark. They were from Des Moines, Iowa.
