There is my great great grandfather that left from Illinois with his brother. One placed his family tree in Dodge Nebraska, the other about anita Iowa, August was his name, I have no other names at this time.

I know that Illinois was a stopping point, but I do not know to what degree. I also suspect that he was born in this country as opposed to Germany, Prussia actually, but not real sure on that either.

I do know that german was still the preferred language of their community. German was the first language of my father. At age 5of my father, my grandfather said english only from now on.
