Hi Joyce, I could find nothing close to your Pieper family anywhere in Iowa in 1850, 1856 or 1860. And as I said, all census records I find for William indicate he was born Mo. Does the death record you were sent indicate William was born in Clinton co, Ia? Amanda apparently lived in the area of Livingston co, Mo. earlier in life. Have you checked with the local area gene & historical societies & kibraries for any assistance they can provide? Find your people on all available census records first. It gives you more data to work with. Dick P.S. John Barnes may have had more than one wife & Amanda may have had older male siblings by those unions. Dick
