Searching for any information,old articles, books, etc. that provide any details about John Henry PIEPER's 3yrs (1854-1857) of service with the Typographical Servey of the State of New Jersey or his 7 years of service (1857-1864) as a city engineer for New York City. John H. PIEPER was instramental in the design and construction of New York City's Central Park as one of the primary project engineers.
John Henry Pieper was born in Hanover Germany May 03, 1824. He graduated from the Polytechnic College of Hanover, served as a engineer in the royal forces, then emigrated to the United States about 1854. He entered through New Orleans and proceeded to New York City.
In 1864 he moved to California having accepted the position of Mining Engineer & Assistant Manager for the Miraposa Grove Mine and sereved there for 3 years.
In 1867 he started employment with the City of San Jose, California and served as the Cities Chief Engineer untill his death in 1888.

(All Known decendants live in California)
