According to the legend I have, it was Eli Pieratt who owned most of the land around Ezel, Kentucky, and he gave it the name, taking it from the 20th Chapter of First Samuel "from the stone Ezel".

I don't claim that all the info is absolutely correct, but it is correct with the documentation I have. My daughter has found some errors in dating, and I will update as I can.
