Register of Valintine Pieratt as Patriot

I've began work last night with the local director of the Sons and Daughters of the Revolution on establishing Valintine Pieratt as a Patriot and, thus, enter our family as one of the newest patriot families in the US. We must document Willaim or Rueben Valintine Pieratt's active duty from 1776 to 1779 and from there establish each family branch link to him. I can fill out the form here to sent to the National Archive. The main thing is to give them an accurate name to go with and to research with.

What is the exact name of the Pieratt who came ashore with Lafeyette in 1775 or 1776?

Is it Ruebin Valintine Pieratt?

Is it William Valintine Pieratt?

Which unit did he serve with?

Is there any notes, records or such where he addresses his commander, unit, and position during the Revolutionary War?

Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,

Paul Pierett
