John Pierpont in Ohio 1832-1836

Anyone know the background of JOHN PIERPONT, who was caretaker of South Bass Island, Ottawa, Ohio from 1832-1836 and drown in Lake Erie near Put-in-Bay in 1836? I figure he was born about 1800-1810 and wasn't married? Thanks.
