the oldest ancestor I can find is oliver pifer which would be my great great grandfather. I know he was born in 1871 and died in 1943. he might have been born in germany.
his wife was Martha (Kirkart)Pifer. Their two children were Walter D. Pifer and Mary Pifer who married into the Logston family.
I think he had a brother named Frank.
I am told that pifer was spelled differently but was too hard for them to learn to write or spell so it was shortened.
